Bugeting where i spend my money, what is needed and what is just wanted.
Use the bus services rather than driving. could save money on insurance, roadtax, mot and petrol and would be better for the environment, however i am unlikely to do this as it will prevent me from several luxaries of being able to go home and visit people and just get away when i like, so instead i could drive at a lower speed to save petrol. Furthermore i could car share with people so that we are not all using our cars to make trips.
Another way i could be more sustainable is to start recycling more, as i accumulate alot of cardboard and plastic bottles which are just thrown into the bin, where as if i seperated them they could be put to better use.
Thirdly is making sure i turn the lights off when i go out could cut down on the amount of electricity used, similarly by closing the windows when i go out could cut down on the amount of central heating needed.
Fourthly by wearing items of clothing such as jumpers and trousers for a few days each i can cut down on the amount of washing i need to do therefore saving money and energy.

Well that's a start....could you develop these ideas any further? Given all the benefits of bus services what's stopping you from doing this?
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting what you have written and I agree with a lot of the ideas you put across because many of them are things that I could and should do. What are your opinions on these ways of living though, do you think it is possible for your lifestyle, are the changes you could make easy?
ReplyDeleteSince the start of the year several of these sustainable parts of my life have changed. I now no longer have a car due to it got written off over the christmas period when it was icy, therefore I only occasionally use my dads car now and this is only when I am at home. So due to this I am now more reliant on the use of the bus service for going shopping, going to work etc. The cleaners in our room now provide us with seperate bins for recycling and so now our rubbish is disbursed accordingly. Unfortunately due to mess within the kitchen, cooking and cleaning has became quite a ture, and so now I have started using paper plates and plastic forks just to make it easier even though it is less sustainable
